Payments Terms of Service

These Payments Terms of Service ("Payments Terms") govern the payment services provided through the Deenspace platform. By making or receiving payments through Deenspace, you agree to be bound by these Payments Terms in addition to our general Terms of Service.

Deenspace facilitates payments between Guests and Hosts through our trusted payment partner, Stripe. We are committed to ensuring all transactions are conducted fairly and transparently, in accordance with the principles of ethical commerce.

1. Payment Processing

All payments on the Deenspace platform are processed securely through Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. Deenspace does not directly store your full payment card details on our servers.

By using our payment services, you also agree to Stripe's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Deenspace is not responsible for errors or failures attributable to Stripe's services.

2. Currency and Pricing

All prices on the Deenspace platform are displayed and charged in British Pounds Sterling (GBP). Prices are set independently by Hosts and may vary based on the type of Space, duration, time of day, and any special offers or seasonal pricing.

The total price displayed at checkout includes the Host's base price plus any applicable Deenspace service fees. All fees are clearly itemised before you confirm your booking. There are no hidden charges.

3. Service Fee Structure

Deenspace charges service fees to support the operation and improvement of the Platform. The fee structure is as follows:

3.1 Guest Service Fee

Guests are charged a service fee of up to 10% of the booking subtotal. This fee covers platform maintenance, customer support, payment processing costs, and our Host Damage Protection programme. The exact fee is displayed before booking confirmation.

3.2 Host Service Fee

Hosts are charged a service fee of 3% of the booking subtotal. This fee is automatically deducted from the Host's payout and covers payment processing and platform services.

3.3 Fee Transparency

In the spirit of fair dealing, all fees are clearly disclosed and itemised at every stage of the booking process. Deenspace reserves the right to modify the fee structure with at least 30 days' notice to affected users.

4. Refund Policy

Refunds are processed in accordance with the cancellation policy applicable to each booking (see our Terms of Service, Section 4). Key refund details:

  • Refunds are issued to the original payment method used at the time of booking.
  • Refunds may take 5-10 business days to appear on your statement, depending on your bank or card issuer.
  • The Deenspace Guest service fee is non-refundable, except in cases where the cancellation is due to a Host's action or a significant misrepresentation of the Space.
  • In exceptional circumstances (such as force majeure events, safety concerns, or platform errors), Deenspace may issue full refunds at its discretion.

5. Host Payout Schedule

Host payouts are processed according to the following schedule:

  • Standard payouts: Payouts are initiated within 24 hours after the Guest's scheduled check-in time.
  • Processing time: Once initiated, payouts typically arrive in your bank account within 2-7 business days, depending on your bank and location.
  • Payout method: Payouts are sent via Stripe to the bank account linked to your Host profile. You are responsible for ensuring your payout details are accurate and up to date.
  • Minimum payout: The minimum payout threshold is £1.00. Earnings below this threshold will be carried over to the next payout cycle.

Deenspace reserves the right to withhold or delay payouts if there is a pending dispute, suspected fraud, or if additional verification is required.

6. Payment Disputes

If you believe a payment was processed incorrectly or wish to dispute a charge, please follow these steps:

  1. Contact the other party: We encourage Guests and Hosts to first attempt to resolve payment issues directly through the Platform's messaging system.
  2. Submit a dispute: If direct resolution fails, submit a payment dispute through your Deenspace dashboard or by emailing payments@deenspace.com within 14 days of the transaction.
  3. Review process: Our payments team will review the dispute, gather evidence from both parties, and aim to reach a resolution within 10 business days.
  4. Final decision: Deenspace's decision on payment disputes is final and binding, subject to your right to pursue the matter through legal channels.

Please refrain from initiating chargebacks with your bank before attempting resolution through Deenspace. Unjustified chargebacks may result in account suspension and recovery of associated fees.

7. Tax Responsibilities

Hosts are solely responsible for determining and fulfilling their tax obligations arising from income earned through the Deenspace platform. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Income tax on earnings from Space bookings.
  • VAT registration and collection, if applicable based on your turnover threshold.
  • Self-assessment tax returns and any required filings with HMRC.
  • National Insurance contributions, if applicable.

Deenspace does not provide tax advice and is not responsible for any Host's tax compliance. We recommend consulting a qualified tax advisor or accountant. Deenspace may provide annual earnings summaries to assist with your tax reporting.
